POSITION: Quality Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Quality
REPORTS TO: Quality Manager
FLSA / SALARY BAND: Exempt – Salary
Position Summary
Quality Engineer works in conjunction with the Quality Department, the Quality Engineer is responsible for daily quality activity that includes internal quality, customer quality and supplier quality issues. Assist in ensuring that products manufactured are in accordance with MMUS’s Quality Management System program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow all safety rules and ISO requirements.
- Assure that work practices are in the guidelines of OSHA standards.
- Ensure personal and associate awareness and understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO/TS 16949 (includes ISO 9001) standards, and company policies and procedures
- Facilitate all quality issues with designated customers and suppliers (travel as required)
- Under guidance of the Quality Manager, facilitate the resolution of internally and externally generated corrective actions that are assigned
- Work closely with Production in resolving manufacturing quality issues and ensuring manufacturing systems (process capability studies, work instructions, fixtures, etc.) quality requirements are correctly implemented and adhered to
- Work closely with Quality Inspectors and Technicians to implement product inspection / testing and Quality Lab procedures
- Responsible for managing the statistical process and report process improvement.
- Formulate PFMEA’s, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams and handle APQP and PPAP requirements
- Actively participate in the maintenance and improvement of the QS-9000 / IATF-16949 Quality System including internal auditing
- Assist in developing Quality Procedures and Quality Training Programs
- Monitors nonconformance and addresses nonconformance issues
- Manages and continually improves Quality System processes for Manufacturing
- Participates in evaluation and selection of suppliers
- Monitors supplier ISO certification status
- Monitors supplier performance
- Trends and reports supplier quality performance information and concerns
- Performs other tasks assigned by Management
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
- Bachelor’s Degree or at least 3+ years’ experience in Automotive Quality Engineering field
- Experience working with Toyota, Subaru, and Honda required
- Proficiency in statistical, quality and continuous improvement methods and tools
- Working knowledge of product development, process development, process validation, design of experiments, and protocol/report preparation
- Strong technical writing experience
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timelines
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point software programs
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to establish and maintains effective working relationships with supplier and customers
- Ability to supervise and train assigned employee including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Skill in the use of personal computers related software applications
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The Team Member is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Team Member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. Must be able to work in warm temperature environment on a daily for extended periods.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
