Job description
A Quality Inspector job in Manchester, CT is currently accepting applications. This is a contract-to-hire position with our key manufacturing client. In this role you will perform visual and dimensional inspection of various mechanical components and assemblies utilizing CMM and hand tools. To be considered for this role, you will have a High School Diploma along with 3 - 5 years of related quality experience.

Quality Inspector Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspection of various mechanical components and assemblies to close tolerance. Perform first piece and in-process inspection in assigned value stream.
  • Identify defects in surface, dimensional, visual and non-conformities (material, documentation and workmanship) to blueprints and quality standards. Report non-conformance of materials or unusual conditions to Quality Supervisor and cell leader.
  • Use a variety of conventional and advanced inspection devices, CMM tools and instruments to verify dimensions to drawing specifications.
  • Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations. Follow work procedures.
  • Maintain records, data and logs as necessary. Create inspection forms such as IMS, first article and other related forms.
  • Prepare products and related paperwork for presentation to customer or source inspection.
  • Provide leadership/training as needed. Ensure that production schedules are met.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to work processes and procedures. Contributes to 5S programs in work area.
Quality Inspector Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • 3-5 years of related quality experience
  • CMM operation experience is a must (Modus)
  • Ability to perform layout inspections on purchased material
  • Comfort reading and understanding blueprints for large / complex assemblies
  • In-depth understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience with internal systems preferred
  • Ability to interface with program management, manufacturing leads, customer, and functional leads; provide daily direction and guidance to junior associates and management
  • Advanced experience using MS suite, including Access, Excel, and PowerPoint
