Job description

Are you a science student looking for a new and evolving challenge especially in a research and development (R&D) setting? Do you want to learn about innovation in manufacturing and how it impacts business performance and customer satisfaction? Do you want to work for a company that is focused on the future of sustainability? If so, TC Transcontinental has an exciting Research & Product Development co-op opportunity for you!

About Us
TC Transcontinental has more than 7,000 employees in Canada and the United States, and revenues of C$2.0 billion in 2016. With our 3 business segments in Print, Media and Packaging we continue to optimize, transform and grow while making impressions that count!

The Opportunity
Transcontinental Packaging designs and manufactures a wide variety of functional multi-layer packaging films used in food, medical, and consumer markets. TC is known for innovative use of materials and manufacturing processes. The R&D group seeks to fill a co-op position for 6-12 months starting preferably in June of 2023. The R&D group is located at the corporate R&D facilities (the ASTRA Center) in Menasha in northeast Wisconsin. It also includes a pilot facility providing a wide variety of services and capabilities for the R&D projects as feasibility and scale up potential is evaluated.

The co-op will learn lab characterization techniques used to support product development and manufacturing. These techniques include physical testing, analytical and microscopy evaluation, and compostability testing. While the foundation of the co-op position will reside in the testing labs, additional activities within the broader R&D group may be possible as projects allow. This work could include collaborating with the R&D product development engineers (PDE’s) working on the company’s new initiatives, process improvement, raw materials sourcing, trial work, and other product development activities.
