RECOVERY TECHNICIAN (PART-TIME)
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
Part time position responsible for the coordination and execution of birth tissue acquisition to be used for transplant and/or research. This position is part-time and is expected to work approximately 15 hours per week. Primary location will be at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional located in Salisbury, MD. The Donor Services Recovery Technician reports to the Sr. Manager, Donor Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Acquire birth tissue during C-section deliveries
  • Screen for medical eligibility and administer patient informed consent for potential donors
  • Package, label, and transport and/or coordinate transport of tissue
  • Actively develop relationships with staff within assigned hospital(s)
  • Actively procure outstanding documentation and information required for donor chart completion
  • Adhere to company SOPs and state/federal regulations
  • Follow policies for hospital access such as those required for Vendormate (current vaccinations, certifications, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum: Associates degree combined with at least two years of experience in tissue banking/transplant, related medical or biological field, and/or operating room experience
  • Certified Tissue Bank Specialist, or ability and commitment to become certified once eligible per AATB requirements (generally within 1-2 years of employment)
  • Proven ability to be comfortable in a patient care and surgical setting
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word and Excel)
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Reliability and ability to travel. 100% travel required to assigned hospital(s) and occasionally to the Columbia office as required
PREFERRED:
  • BSN, RN, LPN, Surgical Tech or Surgical Assist, Paramedic, Certified Tissue Bank Specialist
