Doernbecher Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a 46 bed level IV, regional referral center, providing care for a patient population of critically ill, convalescing and growing premature and term newborns. Admissions come from our own high-risk perinatal department, as well as transports from other hospitals in the region where specialized care is needed by OHSU's neonatologists, neonatal nurses, surgical and referral specialties, as well as perinatology.
Function/Duties of Position:
The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The Clinical RN’s care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics. The Clinical RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, practitioner, and knowledge transferor [Onsomble Model of the Professional Role™]. Professional accountability enriches the Clinical RN’s engagement as a leader in promoting an inter-professional culture of collaborative decision-making, innovation, life-long learning, and teamwork. Required Qualifications:
The qualifications for this position are the minimum eligibility requirements for an interview. The level of required experience and expertise for each posted position is influenced by the current knowledge and skill of nurses within the department.
Minimum Requirements:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA
- Internal ONA applicants: BSN preferred
- Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
- BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application)
- BLS must not expire during orientation or probation period, and must have the same expiration date (upload documentation with online application)
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification
- STABLE certification
- Bilingual - English/Spanish
- Specialty Certification - Neonatal CCRN or RNC
- 2 years level II/III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit experience
Orientation:
- New Grads: 18 weeks
- Specialty Experience: 3-4 weeks
- Experience, but not in specialty area: 8-14 weeks
- RN orientation may vary based on individual and specific needs
