Community Health Program has a full-time opening for a Rural Community Health/Advanced Practice Paramedic in Tonopah, NV.

Qualifications/ Experience Requirements:

  • Must have completed Community Health Paramedic training program or successfully complete the designated Community Health paramedic training program within designated time frame.
  • Current nationally registered Paramedic (NREMT – P), willing to apply for reciprocity with the State of Nevada (if out of state) or a current holder of a Nevada State Paramedic Certification is required.
  • Strong pre-hospital and/or patient care experience preferred.
  • Current AHA ACLS required.
  • Current AHA BLS provider required.
  • Current PHTLS, ITLS, or equivalent (upon hire).
  • Current AHA PALS certification required.
  • Current CCEMP-T preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s license required with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain a Nevada Ambulance Attendant license.

Within this general framework, this position is accountable for the following functions:

  • Work independently within the Community Health Paramedic scope of practice following all protocols, policies and procedures.
  • Drive and operate company vehicles safely, in accordance with established emergency driving guidelines.
  • Participate in research and data collection as related to the program requirements.
  • Provide consistent, high quality prehospital care as outlined by the REMSA Community Health Standard of Care, Protocols, and accepted local and national treatment doctrines.
  • Work in partnership with Renown Telehealth and Renown Regional Medical Center Clinic; may be required to operate as an additional medical provider within clinic setting in accordance with the Community Health Paramedic scope of practice.
  • Provide an exemplary, safe, professional demeanor at all times.
  • Provide a catalyst for absolute professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and competency with patients, their families, the public, other agencies, coworkers, and REMSA management.
  • Maintain currency of all required certifications and licenses.
  • Provide feedback to management for improvement of working conditions, patient care, and system performance within the Community Health Program.
  • Responsible for timely, legible, highly accurate record keeping.
  • Assumes the role as educator for the public, students, and coworkers.
  • Ultimately responsible for all aspects of patient care from the time of patient contact until transfer of care outlined by the Telehealth Physician and/or Community Health Paramedic scope of practice. Follow-up visit will be performed as necessary.
  • Carries a case load of patients for follow-up and health management/maintenance as appropriate within the Community Health Program.
  • Cooperates with other members of the REMSA team, Renown Telehealth, and Renown Clinic staff including management and co-workers.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
