Job Summary: Monitors and coordinates safety compliance with applicable laws and company practices for an assigned location.
Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Monitors operational methods to ensure that safety is a top priority and makes recommendations on improvements and/or training to management.
- Conducts safety audits at an assigned LGSTX Cargo Services (LCS) location. Reports the findings and recommendations to the Safety & Environmental Specialist and operations management for any needed corrective or preventative action.
- Develops and coordinates the delivery of safety training classes.
- Ensures that LCS management is aware of applicable laws and best practices. Reports potential hazards and follows-up to ensure their abatement.
- Conducts accident investigations. Interviews witnesses, inspects the facilities and equipment involved, and suggests corrective or preventative actions. Shares findings with members of LGSTX management and follows-up to ensure that corrective or preventative actions have been implemented.
- Coordinates safety communications, updates and training to employees. Recommends regular safety tips and talks to management for staff meetings.
- Ensures all mandatory postings and placards are displayed compliantly according to applicable regulations.
- Tracks injury and accident rates.
- Maintains and tracks inventory records of PPE safety equipment and materials.
Job Requirements:
- One year's experience in the warehouse or logistics industry
- Must have knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, FAR, CFR 40 & 49, and applicable sections of the state regulations.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Must have basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn relevant company software programs.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Experience in an air cargo or airport operations environment.
