Daily Kos is hiring a full-time Senior Account Executive to help drive the advertising revenue business. In this role, you will be responsible for working with political organizations, nonprofits, and advocacy groups to meet their advertising and organizing objectives and effectively reach their target audiences. In addition, you will be responsible for strategically approaching the marketplace to generate revenue and meet sales targets.

The Account Executive will identify potential prospects and be responsible for pitching, presenting, and closing deals. This role requires focus, drive, and strong communication skills. In addition, the Account Executive will engage in advocacy and nonprofit sectors, news-focused and digitally savvy.


To succeed in this role, you’ll need to have an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to operate independently. Our offices are in Oakland, CA, and Washington, D.C.; however, we are open to fully remote applicants.


Responsibilities:

  • Work through the sales cycle from beginning to end: prospecting and education, presenting, pitching, objection handling, negotiating, closing, and upselling/renewing to grow new business in non-profit, political, and advocacy markets
  • Create informative sales presentations to demonstrate the value of Daily Kos and how its products can help clients to connect with their target audiences
  • Utilize internal tools and CRMs to track opportunities, meetings, revenue, and sales activity
  • Schedule meetings with potential and current clients to keep them up to date on the latest offerings at Daily Kos and to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Become a subject matter expert on Daily Kos and represent our brand in the marketplace
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients to ensure their goals are being met
  • Demonstrate strong presentation skills and the ability to pivot and handle objections
  • Be a strategic thinker. Regularly brainstorm new and innovative solutions for clients
  • Meet and exceed quarterly revenue goals
  • Work collaboratively with other internal departments towards common goals


Experience:

  • 6-10 years of sales experience with a successful track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals
  • Sales experience working with political, nonprofit, and advocacy clients and a deep set of relationships that you can bring to Daily Kos
  • Knowledge and understanding of the current news landscape and experience within the progressive political/nonprofit technology space


Qualifications:

  • Highly driven and passionate about servicing non-profit, political, and advocacy clients
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Established relationships within the political, nonprofit, and advocacy sectors
  • Deep knowledge of the digital advertising landscape
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Solutions-oriented as well as goal-oriented
  • Ability to work independently

Salary Range: $126,000 - $150,000 base+ commissions

This position is a 40 hour/week, full-time, exempt position and reports to the Sr. Vice President of Sales and Client Services. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
