 JOB SUMMARY


Marriott’s Global Design Estimating team is looking for an analytical and motivated individual to join our team. The Senior Estimator role is responsible developing cost estimates ranging from rough-order-of-magnitude level to detailed working cost estimates providing sufficient cost information for various stakeholders to make informed decisions. We are looking for someone who has excellent people and communication skills and is able to think outside of the box for creative problem solving.


The individual will need to work collaboratively across several Marriott Departments (Global Design, Development, Owner & Franchise Services, Brand and others) and external stakeholders (Owners, Franchisees, Consultants, Vendors and others). The Senior Estimator will work on projects with Marriott’s 30 brands and brand extensions doing analytics and estimates, from conceptual to detailed construction document, on new builds, acquisition/conversions and renovations. The position may also include a construction phase cost management role on certain larger projects. This role is global in scope and also interfaces with Marriott’s global regions (United States & Canada, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Asia Pacific, China, Caribbean & Latin America).


EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS


  • Conceptualize and develop initial project budgets based on a program and input from various MI stakeholders.
  • Manage and reconcile project budgets during the preconstruction phase as design progresses with appropriate detail level estimates through feasibility, design development and construction documents.
  • Achieve accuracy level of +/- 5% on construction document estimates.
  • Assist Project Management in analyzing bids for scope, drawing, specification, and contract compliance.
  • Participate with Project Management and Accounting in the preparation of project cost forecasts.
  • On selected projects assist Project Management with construction phase cost management, including review and negotiation of contractor change orders.
  • Check estimates submitted by outside owners, consultants, and contractors for accuracy in quantities and pricing.
  • Prepare estimates for conversion and renovation of existing hotels through site survey and pricing of detailed scope of work.
  • Prepare statistical and other historical cost data on projects and maintain records to assist in the preparation of future cost estimates.
  • Provide input and recommendations for improvements in the development and maintenance of computer-based cost estimating models, databases and systems.
  • Participate in the preparation of annual capex budget guidelines and prototypical costs.
  • Ensure that information requirements for outside owners, internal customers and franchisees are met on a timely basis.

Education/Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in Architecture, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction or related area preferred.
  • Five years’ experience in estimating construction projects (hotels, commercial/institutional building desirable).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
