Job duties:
- Responsible for the development of the international ocean business.
- Oversee the import and export function and ensure all activities are in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop new routes and support on new customers with commercial team.
- Understand ocean market trends and competitive landscape. Define and execute international shipping optimization strategy.
- Identify new product opportunities and market segment.
- Establish and track KPIs on the project and work with internal and external teams to make improvement as needed.
- Create, develop, sustain strong ocean partner relationships for all international imports and exports.
- Provide training on policies, procedures, SOP, system handling and service standards for team members.
- Regularly assess and allocate shipment strategies, steamship lines and freight forwarders.
- Master the shipment plan and production changes of customers, actively cooperate with other departments
- Work with local and Head Office management, sales and IT teams to optimize operations to drive revenue.
- Manage peak season requirements for ports, service providers, and clearance teams.
- Create SOPs to connect internal and external operations for seamless PO interactions and container arrivals.
- Establish performance goals, quality standards, and monitor both quality and quantity of all facets.
- Regularly arrange visit plans, maintain and develop key customers.
- Familiar with operation process and ensure ocean governance complied.
- Manage carriers in terms of service contracts established and allocate respectively.
- Keep regular contact with BUs and overseas peers on daily and weekly basis.
- Create and improve policy, procedure, processes and methodology according to KPIs and objectives.
- Foster teamwork and collaborations between people and teams.
- Understand market trends, define initiatives and find top-notch solutions.
Job requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in leading large logistics functions in industrial companies.
- Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited university or college in business management, supply chain management, or logistics.
- Strategic vision for short term solutions and long-term goals.
- Comprehensive knowledge on Dangerous Goods, DG certificate is preferred.
- Professional sales skills with outstanding achievements in the industry.
- Proficient in communication and negotiation skills with shipping lanes for contractual discussion and problem solving.
- Expertise in U.S. Customs regulatory requirements and demonstrate success in implementing and maintaining a global program, including policies, procedures, and training.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills along with interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to represent the company in handling complaints, disputes and resolving grievances.
- Highly pro-active with a solution-driven approach from problem identifying to solving.
- Ability to drive and manage change in a dynamic and multi-culture environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point & Word.
- U.S. Customs Broker License is preferred.
- Flexible working schedule with occasional OT.
- Able to travel domestically (approximate 10%).
- U.S. legal working permit is required.
