Senior Quality Inspector

OTTO's opportunity:
Our Senior Quality Inspector is responsible for defining/establishing proper inspection methods for first piece, incoming, in-process, and final inspection, as well as, for performing first piece, incoming, in-process, and final inspection, and reports resulting results in a manner which fully describes the component part, subassembly, or finished product as required.
Specifically, the Senior Quality Inspector will:
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection.
- Primary inspector for control grips (Military and Commercial) originating from ATPs
- Perform first article inspection on OTTO and supplier produced components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods.
- Define and implement proper inspection methods (CMM or mechanical) for first piece, incoming and final inspection.
- Develop and maintain first piece, incoming, in-process, and final inspection reports.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely inspections of both OTTO and supplier submissions.
- Perform inspections per customer requirements.
- Prepare and present documentation packets for government and customer source inspections.
- Monitor and maintain accurate Inspection inventory.
- Facilitate and participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings
- Update and process to closure Material Rejection Reports (MRRs).
- Monitor and maintain accurate MRB inventory.
- Assist with maintaining OTTO's calibration system – including conducting internal calibrations and scheduling external calibrations and assuring data integrity.
- Perform random line audits as directed.
- Participate in the maintenance and improvement of OTTO's ISO 9001 and AS99100 registrations.
- Effectively handle conflicting and/or changing priorities with minimal management involvement so inspection delays are avoided.
- Assist Quality Supervisor with implementing policies, procedures, and improvement initiatives.
- Assist with training new and existing inspection personnel.
- Assist with other duties as required or assigned.
What you'll need to bring to the table:
- Associate Degree in a technical field of study or equivalent work experience.
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector or Technician preferred.
- Minimum 5 years' inspection experience in a Quality Department of a manufacturing firm.
- Minimum 5 years' experience performing inspections utilizing common measurement devices such as micrometers, calipers, thread gages, drop indictors, spring testers and optical equipment.
- CMM operating and/or programming experience a plus.
- Must have a complete understanding of ASME Y14.5 (Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Must currently hold or have ability to obtain FAA Repairman certification.
- Must currently hold or have ability to obtain DMIR (Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative) certification.
- Must currently hold or have ability to obtain specific customer quality and/or inspection designations such as DQR (Designated Quality Representative) and DSI (Delegated Source Inspector)).
- Working knowledge of AS9102 and PPAP requirements.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14000 and AS9100.
- Computer literate in all Microsoft office applications.
- Must have strong advanced math skills and be detail oriented.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Requires self-motivation and ability to complete tasks and projects with strict guidelines.
- Requires the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Requires the ability to differentiate between colors.
- Availability for nonstandard or extended work hours.
- Bona Fide Occupational Qualification: Visual acuity test and color vision screening will be performed after offer/acceptance of position. Hiring is contingent upon a passing score of 20/25 (in both eyes) and passing of the color screen.
