Ancora Psychiatric Hospital has 515 CMS Certified beds and an average daily census of approximately 315 adult inpatient clients. The facility offers a multi-disciplinary team approach to development and implementation of care. We meet the needs of our mentally ill clients in the areas of admissions, acute and chronic psychiatric units, gero-psychiatric units, a sub-acute medical unit, a secure care unit (Forensic), and a dual diagnostic unit for the mentally ill and developmentally disabled. A quiet 80-acre campus located in the South Jersey countryside or Hammonton NJ, we are conveniently located 30 miles from downtown Philadelphia and the boardwalk at Atlantic City is a mere 35 miles away. The hospital is seeking a Social Worker 1 to provide quality, comprehensive psychiatric social services which encourage maximum patient independence and movement towards community re-integration.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Completes thorough, clinically sound assessments incorporating feedback from community providers, case managers and family.
  • Documents patients clinical/discharge status and progress in treatment.
  • Discharges clinically appropriate patients, or court-ordered patients, in a thorough and timely manner following all procedures.
  • Treatment Planning is completed in an interdisciplinary fashion with the treatment team.
  • Provides Active Treatment by providing three groups per week.
  • Completes and submits paperwork in an accurate and timely manner, complies with division, hospital and departmental policies and procedures governing such. Submits initial discharge plan upon identifying a bed or viable placement option. Submits final discharge plan upon scheduling a discharge date.
  • Keeps family/primary contact apprised of discharge status, obtains thorough history of patients’ development and history in the community, shares information with treatment team in a timely manner, ensures database and clinical record contact information is correct and identical. Communicates with primary contact for all new admissions and upon transfer to the ward.

Graduation from an accredited college with a Master's degree in Social Work and license is required. One (1) year of experience in social case work, involving responsibility for gathering and analyzing social information from clients, the determination of their needs, and the planning and administration of treatment plans geared toward the needs of individual clients is required. Please note: A Master's degree in Social Work including or supplemented by a supervised field placement accredited by the Council on Social Work Education may be substituted for the above stated experience requirements. A driver’s license is required.
