Job description
Nationwide company is looking to hire a dedicated and experienced solar technicians to continue to grow in Texas. New hire will be responsible for assembling, installing, and/or maintaining solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. This may include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules. Installer will also be responsible for providing support to the installation team, communicating job status data to the operations management team and ensuring the completion of all solar arrays/systems. It is the responsibility of every installer to ensure safe work practices for the installation team. We are willing to train the right canidate.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Service electrical systems that interconnect our solar array to the grid power of our customer's residential property
- Work with the Operations Manager and home owners to fulfill any necessary service panel upgrades to support our solar equipment
- Remove and replace service panel from wall under disconnect/reconnect time constraints from power companies
- Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches
- Manage all on-site installation, repair, maintenance and test tasks
- Diagnose electrical errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
- Prepare materials for projects
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Must have a clean and valid driver’s license and be able to pass a drug test and background check
- Must have own vehicle to work out of
- Must have own tools
- Electrical knowledge is a must
- Be able to create a complete full report for onsite visits
- Regular, reliable and predictable attendance required
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- Must be comfortable with heights and climbing onto roof areas for extended periods of time
- Must know how to use tape measures accurately
- Comfortable using multi-position and extension ladders
- Able to read, write and speak English
- Must have good customer service skills
- Keeps a clean appearance
- Earns trust easily and maintains confidence from co-workers and customers
- Ability to demonstrate smartphone skills
- Minimum 2 year Solar experience required
- Determine materials, equipment, and installation sequences necessary to maximize installation efficiency.
- Evaluate work and safely utilize appropriate hand tools (i.e. crescent wrench, pliers, hammer, screwdriver, etc.) and power tools (i.e. Drills, Impact Wrenches) for the work being performed.
- Use effective verbal and written communication skills. Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.
- Listen to co-workers suggestions, safety concerns, and recommendations giving full attention to what they are saying and take the time to understand the points being made, asking questions and providing feedback when appropriate.
- Roof Experience is a plus
- Knowledge of solar industry and NEC code
- Ability to work independently and with minimal direction/oversight
- Ability to prioritize work and work under sensitive time restraints
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time
- Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on telephone
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
- Generac solar experience is a plus
