Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Satellite Operations Mission Planner to support launch and mission operations for the Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS) at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO, in support of the Missile Defense Agency. The Mission Planner performs short- and medium-term mission planning and participates in long term planning. This involves: define weekly task plan input for entry into Mission Management; generate task schedule and submit Contact Schedule Request (CSR); de-conflict 24 hour schedule; coordinate with the operations team to plan and schedule spacecraft operations and maintenance tasks; coordinate with orbit analysts to validate mission planning requirements/requests against orbital geometry; support test and anomaly planning; reschedule missed or failed contacts; coordinate activities between Colorado Springs and the factory support center; maintain the ops schedule; participate in all operational rehearsals/exercises/operations supplying mission planning products as required.

This position requires some on-call support of 24/7 flight operations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree and 7+ years of engineering experience OR PhD Degree and 4+ years of engineering experience

  • Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances: Dept of Defense Secret level with a background investigation date within 10 years OR Dept of Energy L clearance with a background investigation date within 10 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in spacecraft and payload operations planning functions, launch and early-orbit test operations, and satellite command and control on-console operations.



Salary Range: $103,900 USD - $155,900 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
