Stocking Clerk Overview

We are seeking a Stocking Clerk for our Purchasing department. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for receiving and checking in merchandise, sorting and distributing purchase orders, and maintaining and organizing the storeroom and other storage areas.

Schedule: This position requires flexibility in scheduling, able to work holidays and weekends.

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $17.00 hourly

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists shipping and receiving with unloading trucks and checking in merchandise. Matches purchase orders to sales orders and distributes to sales associates for processing.
  • Reads shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped.
  • Moves materials and items from receiving and storage areas to their designated areas.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to pre-determined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Files requisitions, work orders or requests for items, and distributes them to respective areas.
  • Ensures storeroom is accessible and safe.
  • Assembles orders from stock and places them on pallets or shelves or relocates orders to a designated holding area.
  • Marks materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
  • Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed via appropriate computer program.
  • Assists in counting physical inventory.
  • Weighs and counts items for distribution to ensure Club standards.
  • May be assigned facilities maintenance duties as needed.
  • Completes requisition forms to order supplies for other departments.
  • Prepares parcels for mailing.
  • Sweeps, dusts and mops, and organizes warehouses and work area for orderliness at all times.
  • Wears the proper safety equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager, Executive Chef or Sous Chef.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to one hundred pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
