Job Summary:
The Pricing Analyst reports is responsible for administering a comprehensive ongoing pricing strategy. This position must research, analyze, and develop a clear understanding of our industry and competitive landscape, products, and customers within the Friction Management (FM) division. The position works as an independent strategist which will allow them to utilize their background in different pricing approaches to effectively support the sales, procurement, and engineering teams, in addition to vendors and customers. Pricing Analyst will support the FM objectives while maintaining a competitive position in the marketplace through current and future pricing strategic initiatives.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for creating and preparing of cost estimates and sales quotations in response to the FM customers/prospects within the North American markets.
Develops and implements new/innovative pricing structures to optimize profitability, field pricing flexibility, and pricing controls.
Conceives, defines, and leads pricing process improvement initiatives, including the development and implementation of programs to lower slow and non-moving inventory.
Prepares bid submittal information for all bids and works closely with Sales team on open inquiries, bid feedback, and product lead times.
Oversees review process for Visual monthly standard cost revisions, validating margins on a monthly basis, and slow/non-moving inventory reports.
Participates in daily Production meetings and provides input and expedites orders as needed.
Participates in physical inventory for all storage locations as needed, assisting with actual count and variance resolution.
Reports out billings, bookings, and backlog at end of each month.
Provides monthly business highlights for staff meeting and quarterly sales analysis for QBR’s.
Presents recommendations on pricing and profit optimization topics to senior management.
Assists in preparing all analysis and documentation for AOP’s and strategic plans.
All other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, & License Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required, MBA a plus.
- 5-7 years of experience in a similar role required.
- Experience in Railroad supply or operations a plus.
- Previous bid estimating experience a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems is preferred, specifically Visual.
Skills & Abilities:
- Creative problem-solving skills and great attention to details.
- Strong verbal and written communications.
- Successful track record of driving pricing transformation and execution
- Microsoft Office applications, along with other sales system applications like Sales Logix.
- Ability to work with all levels within an organization.
- Occasional overnight travel (up to 10%) to plants and trade shows required.
