SUMMARY

The Substance Use Disorder Facilitator counsels/helps their patients and families through the process of rehabilitation and recovery from illicit substances, prescribed and streets drugs being abused, alcohol, and other substance and behavioral addictions.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge:

General knowledge of management principles.

Special knowledge of behavioral modification

Special knowledge in the care and needs of the emotionally challenged population.

The ability to supervise others, manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

Knowledge of the Arizona Department of Behavioral Health licensing, CARF procedures and requirements.

The ability to design, implement, and monitor systems.

Abilities:

Strong written and verbal communication skill as well as active listening skills are required. Ability to comprehend, plan, direct and coordinate activities to meet overall program standards as directed by clinical director or executive director. Must be able to work effectively with clients, their families, outside agencies and other members of the staff. Must be able to maintain confidential client and personnel information.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Provide individual and group counseling according to individualized treatment plans and in accordance with professional standards.
  • Conducts and participates in morning meetings with staff and clients.
  • Create, maintain, and submit accurate records and documents in a timely manner.
  • Maintain current knowledge of assessment and treatment techniques, criminal justice systems, and community resources using in-service training, seminars, workshops, and publications.
  • Has active caseload.
  • Provide crisis support/urgent interventions to therapists and clients as needed.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and evaluation of the clinical program to ensure that client needs, agency standards and funding requirements are met.
  • Maintain documentation, client files, and statistics as required by agency policies and funding sources.
  • Manage client and outcomes tracking in client database. Documents client encounter notes on daily basis via EMS/ Data Witts.
  • Use outcome data to manage clients and assists SUD Program Manager with program performance.
  • Prioritize the use of best evidence-based practices, including researching programming trends and current practices being used in other jurisdictions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Licensed as

Valid DC clinical license (CAC I, CACII, LPC, LISAC, LCSW, etc). Minimum of three (3) years of counseling experience, 5 years of experience working in behavioral health and SUD programs. Experience and knowledge of direct SUD and behavioral health services, including assessment, treatment, and consultation. Direct application of ASAM, DSM-IV and ICD-10 diagnostic criteria. Knowledge of diverse modalities of counseling and diagnostic principles. Knowledge of and ability to apply counseling and diagnostic theories and techniques to a full range of diverse client populations as well as co-occurring disorders, Knowledge of clinical research literature, SUD program development, and managing caseloads. Belief in a strengths-based approach to SUD recovery and human services.
