About the GO Project
The GO Project helps New York City public school students thrive in the earliest stages of their education through year-round academic, social-emotional, and family support.
GO Project is conducting an in-person Saturday program for GO School 2022-2023 with locations in Park Slope, Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan. This position is required to workin-person from October 2022 to May 2023.
Position Description
GO Project is seeking a qualified candidate to support participants’ social-emotional well-being and empower families to create positive learning environments at home and school through proactively addressing various student learning and behavioral challenges.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Facilitate small group sessions on Social Emotional Learning topics for students.
- Facilitate large group family workshops for adults.
- Support and work collaboratively with classroom staff to address the behavioral and educational needs of our students.
- Review student files, such as IEPs and case management notes, to implement any recommendations during our program.
- Prepare and implement lesson plans on a weekly basis.
Qualifications
- Ideal candidates will have experience working with children in a school setting, after school programs or other large programs geared toward the social and emotional development of students.
- Experience managing students in a classroom setting and creating weekly lesson plans for SEL workshops.
- Experience with creating behavior plans for students
- At least two years of demonstrated success leading groups/workshops for family and students with a strength-based focus.
- Candidates should have a strong background in behavioral intervention as well as previous experience working with children on the autism spectrum.
- Fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish or Arabic is a plus.
- Bachelor degree in social work, school counseling, mental health counseling, psychology or other related fields is preferred.
Program Training and Instruction Dates
GO School runs on select Saturdays from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm. Students are on campus from 9:00 - 12:00 and the remaining time is used for planning.
Program Dates:
- January 21st (Training)
- January 28th
- February 4th and 11th
- March 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th
- April 1st, 22nd, and 29th
- May 6th
Compensation:
Success Coach compensation is $23 - $26 per hour, depending on experience. This covers all responsibilities, deliverables, and reporting times as listed above.
