Sustainability Manager:
This role will focus heavily on all aspects of project-related sustainability for Consigli, including, but not limited to LEED certification and green building code requirements. This position is also tasked with the advancement of the sustainability practices of Consigli and will report to the Director of Sustainability.
Required Skills
- Capable and willing to research, learn, and stay current with the ever-changing requirements for LEED, other sustainability programs, regulatory requirements, and sustainable technologies and construction techniques that influence our work and specific building types.
- Maintain list of sustainability projects and applicable information
- Support LEED APs to maintain their credentials by creating a credentialing maintenance course curriculum (or other similar program) and providing training sessions/availability to encourage compliance.
- Attend and provide input at LEED meetings as required (Precon/charrette, Kickoff, and Construction Progress)
- Assist projects with LEED documentation setup (plans, templates, access to LEED Online)
- Track and guide Project teams on LEED Documentation; Train teams on how to read and review ‘green’ submittals, and update templates and LEED Online, consistently and timely
- Perform final review of all LEED/sustainability documentation before upload to LEED Online and / or applicable third-party review platforms
- Review audit comments and assist teams with appropriate and timely response
- Track projects for final certification status and communicate with marketing
- Participate in project proposals/interviews, as requested
- Support marketing with accurate sustainability 'facts', when requested for articles, and green building stats for ‘green’ lists such as ENR
- Attend conferences, USGBC MA, or similar local industry events as required; foster and advance Consigli's positive 'green' reputation through presentations and various forms of engagement within the AEC community.
- Provide Sustainability Construction Documentation training and guidance to Purchasing, PM staff, and subcontractors, as needed
- Consistently review ‘sustainability’ documentation, and improve/streamline processes, as applicable
- Assist in tracking components of the corporate sustainability action plan.
- Assist in developing and promoting field sustainability procedures
- Travel to jobsites to assist team members, ensure successful implementation of field procedures, and witness any relevant testing related to sustainability such as blower door tests.
Required Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 2-5 years’ experience within Construction Management, Environmental Sciences, or related.
- Proven success in LEED Construction Administration and Project Management.
- Specialized experience in LEED matters highly preferred.
- Knowledge of current industry sustainability trends and topics highly preferred.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, multi-tasking, patient LEED AP BD+C accredited professional.
- Ability to identify and solve potential sustainability challenges on our projects.
- Familiar with all LEED design and construction credits and version differences.
- Proficient in LEED Construction credit documentation requirements and processes.
- Ability to read drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of embodied carbon and its impact on construction.
- Working knowledge of other sustainability programs such as WELL, Fitwel, Passive House, and Living Building Challenge.
