Job Purpose and Scope:
The SVP, Mortgage Operations is a critical leadership and player-coach role within the Bank OZK residential mortgage business and is responsible for driving core mortgage operations activities and critical business initiatives while managing risk.
Essential Job Functions:
- Own and drive mortgage operations key launch initiatives, projects, and programs
- Drive and be accountable for achieving operations efficiency targets and reducing manual touch points
- Hire, train, and lead operational staff to meet the needs of the mortgage division
- Interface with internal partners across all levels of the bank and mortgage division including Technology, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Loan Servicing
- Represent, speak on behalf of, and strongly advocate for mortgage division interests and priorities in a variety of forums, including executive forums
- Serve as the subject matter expert for all mortgage operations processes and procedures
- Evaluate needs and build procedures to identify opportunities for automation and further reduction of manual touch points
- Gather and analyze large amounts of disparate data and make concrete recommendations for process improvements and reduced risk
- Translate data, findings, and analysis into meaningful and compelling executive level presentations
- Actively track and follow up on issues, risks, and action items as they relate to ongoing business operations initiatives
- Exercise sound judgement in escalating issues in a timely manner such that intervention can successfully salvage at-risk items and customer service issues
- Provide daily oversight and pipeline management to ensure capacity optimization and progress towards monthly business objectives and funding goals
- Identify, own, and drive closure of operational issues
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to improve the client experience (internal and external)
- Increase team productivity including reducing processing turnaround times
- Perform ad hoc requests, as needed
- Regularly exercise discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions
- Maintain good punctuality and attendance to work
- Follow Bank policy, procedures, and guidelines
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the mortgage industry and all relevant regulations, particularly as it relates to underwriting, processing, closing, and funding
- Ability to lead and implement successful system and process re-engineering initiatives with a demonstrated quantifiable benefit to business operations, overall efficiency, and reduced risk
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with compliance and/or audit teams
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including effective negotiation skills Ability to demonstrate effective organization, project management, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to demonstrate expertise in process definition, documentation, and oversight
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional client and sales-focused mindset with a strong appreciation for maintaining a robust controls environment
- Ability to demonstrate strong business acumen and effective relationship management skills
- Ability to influence others effectively and create support and buy-in across a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to manage, lead, and mentor staff
- Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

- 15+ years of mortgage operations experience required
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience within the mortgage industry, preferably in operations and including underwriting, processing, and closing, required
