Overview:
AIR is currently seeking a Technical Assistance Consultant to join our Learning Supports Program Area in our Human Services Division. The Technical Assistance Consultant will serve as a subject matter expert on training and technical assistance (TTA) focused on various topics related to special education and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS). The candidate will have technical assistance experience providing training, facilitation and coaching support to teachers, administrators, related service providers, and/or early childhood personnel. This position will also include experience with developing and operating virtual training and communication through Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other platforms.

This position can be remote or located out of any of the following AIR locations: Arlington, Virginia; Rockville, Maryland; Chicago, Illinois; Waltham, Massachusetts; Chapel Hill, North Carolina; or Sacramento, California.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Develop training materials, toolkits, curricula, and assessment tools on various subtopics within special education and MTSS for educators and other interdisciplinary professionals working within local education agencies (LEAs) or state education agencies (SEAs)
  • Coordinate and conduct TTA through LMS or other virtual training platforms
  • Provide technical leadership in support of a learning management system (LMS) through administration and implementation of training applications
  • Support the design, development, implementation, delivery, and maintenance of resources used for instructional functions
  • Familiarity with editing software programs and videos
  • Interact with state, local, and site-based staff; potential clients; and partner organizations
  • Contribute to team efforts to develop new business opportunities, including strategic planning to grow existing work and leading proposals for new work
  • Assess local and state educational resources within area of professional expertise, and design and develop special programs for resource development as appropriate
  • Produce evidence based special education literature and information packages for dissemination to educational programs and constituencies, in accordance with need
Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience in education, youth development, early childhood or other related fields or Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience in education, youth development, early childhood or other related fields.
  • Experience providing TTA on related topics including special education and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)
  • Prior experience in non-profit, philanthropic, university, or mission-driven environment

Skills:

  • A strong business development acumen
  • Ability to work across a dispersed project team to complete project activities
  • Passionate about topics related to learning supports for special youth populations
