Mainstay Information Solutions, LLC is seeking several talented Technical Writers to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Technical Writer positions will provide technical support to Human Capital Management (HCM) products and systems and VA Office of Human Resources and Administration Operations, Security, and Preparedness (HRA OSP) shared service products including. but not limited to, system integration, configuration, system engineering, defect management, testing, deployment, operations, and management services.

POSITION DESCRIPTION (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Edit of narrative and graphic products and determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension.
  • Work with teams to create an in-depth understanding of the HR Smart applition and document requirements
  • Produce documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
  • Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and developer guides
  • Leverage an Agile Development best practices in project activities
  • Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions.
  • Meet with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed.
  • Analyze information required for the development or update of policy, procedure, and form documentation.
  • Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • 5+ Years of relevant work experience supporting complex projects.
  • Experience communicating ideas and viewpoints to senior management and acting as a liaison between business and IT groups.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Ability to multi-task and be a self-starter
  • Ability to check all technical material for consistency and accuracy
  • The ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies
  • Excellent open and proactive written and oral communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

  • Prior Department of Veteran Affairs experience.
  • Knowledge of various Process Documentation Sets that include process overviews, activity details, artifacts (templates, checklists, policies, guidelines, standards, tool references) and RACI tables to support Business Process Maps.
  • Prior experience as a technical writer for software systems developing artifacts such as user guides and training material.
  • Ability to build a partnership with functional IT teams to understand current capabilities, gaps, and opportunities to jointly design data programs/initiatives.
  • Ability to build and foster relationships across businesses and functions.
  • Collaboration – ability to work with various functions and business representatives to drive solutions
  • Service Mindset/Relationship Management – ensuring our client’s needs are met and enable the respective strategies.
  • Openness – Communicates honestly, openly, and consistently. Shares information appropriately and involves the customer in solving problems.

Security Clearance Requirement:

Department of Veterans Affairs Public Trust

Education (Minimum Requirements):

Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required. 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.

Pay: $57,774.66 - $100,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
