District Summary: TEC Connections Academy Commonwealth Virtual School (TECCA) is a tuition-free virtual public school district that employs over 200 faculty and staff and serves a diverse population of approximately 3000 students in grades K12 across Massachusetts. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: TECCA is looking for a Temporary Interim Special Education Supervisor to cover a 4-5 month leave of absence for our Middle School.Job Description The Special Education Supervisor, under the supervision of the Director of Special Education, Assistant Director of Special Education and the Principals, is responsible for the design, development and implementation of special education processes and programs to meet the varying learning needs of the students in their assigned schools. The Special Education Supervisor supervises and coordinates the activities of the faculty and staff assigned to the special education department and is responsible for the implementation of the instructional program at the building level in accordance with TEC Connections Academy policies, State and Federal regulations, and Administrative regulations. Position Responsibilities 1.Manage the site-based program and process for special education programs. a. Facilitate and manage the referral, evaluation and placement process for special education students. b.
Serve as the TEAM Chair for all initial referrals, upon review of re-evaluation assessments by both coordinator and case manager, coordinator consults with case managers prior to three-year reevaluation meetings as needed, and attends three year re-evaluation meetings as deemed necessary, and other TEAM meetings, as assigned by the Director/Assistant Director of Special Education and/or Principal c. Review, edit and sign all special education IEPs. d. Provide information to faculty regarding changes in regulations, mandates, processes and procedures to ensure currency with special regulations and policies.
e. Work with Director and Assistant Director to update Special Education Department manual is current with state and federal regulations and TECCA policies f. Consult to faculty, related service providers and parents on issues relating to special education g. Develop/monitor programs and services to meet the needs of students.
The Middle School Supervisor will also be responsible for: ? School Choice Special Education Increment Claim and SIMS reporting ? Overseeing the reading services provided by the special education reading specialist, which includes monitoring of the program and services, supervision, evaluation and hiring of the reading specialist in accordance with 2. a.
below 2. Provide effective personnel management and supervision: a. Hire, supervise, and evaluate special education faculty as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools in collaboration with the Principal and the Director/Assistant Director of Special Education and in accordance with hiring and evaluation procedures established by the district. b.
Schedule and coordinate regular department meetings for Special Education faculty, develop agenda with consultation from Director/Assistant Director of Special Education and Principals and keep minutes/record meetings and attendance 3. Monitor compliance with special education regulations a. Monitor the schools special education process and ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations,TECCA policies and district procedures. b.
Assist the Director/Assistant Director of Special Education with the development of required reports regarding special enrollment and programming as required. c. Maintain a current list and description of program options available for students with special needs. d.
Review and sign IEPs and manage the schools special education programs, including recommended Extended School Year services. e. Maintain all school level special education records. f.
Support child find activities. 4. Develop and manage annual budgets for special education programs at the school. a.
Prepare an annual budget proposal, in collaboration with the Director/Assistant Director of Special Education and Principal, for the operation of special education programs. b. Manage the special education department budget for assigned school and programs 5. Perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
