Transportation Specialist-Van Driver Job Description

Hours: 5:30pm-8:30pm

Job Summary:  

• Operate Club vans in all types of weather conditions, including but not limited to fog, rain, hail, sleet, and snow.

• Transports members and other authorized persons on field and extracurricular trips as approved by management. Picks up members from Boys & Girls Club school sites to transport members to designated home neighborhoods.

• Held responsible for route performance, safe operation of vans, compliance with traffic laws, and compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing member transportation and bus or van operation.

• Ensures that the van can be operated safely before driving and conducts pre-trip safety inspections as required by federal and state laws to include observing visual defects and checking operating systems to include brakes, horns, lights, flashers, etc.

• Operates the vehicle safely over an assigned route, picking up and delivering only authorized students at designated bus stops, and watches to ensure that no one hurrying for the van is left behind.

• Obeys all traffic laws and transportation practices.

• Maintains member discipline on the bus and enforces rules governing member conduct.

• Reports all accidents immediately, requesting police or ambulance service as needed; assists injured persons until services arrive; and completes required accident report.

• Notifies the proper authority in cases of mechanical failure, safety deficiencies, or other incidents.

• Exercises responsible leadership and appropriate behavior.

• Returns the vans to the assigned van lot, performs a final inspection, and secures the van according to procedures.

• Keeps the entire van clean by ensuring trash is picked up, van is swept out regularly, windows are clean, seats are clean and maintained, and the outside is cleaned when needed.

• Maintains First Aid & CPR Certification.

• Maintains a clean driving abstract.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Up to $20.00 per hour

• Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
• Night shift
