FULL TIME - MONDAY - FRIDAY; 4PM - 12AM
PART TIME - SATURDAY AND SUNDAY 8AM - 8PM
Trauma Victim Advocates are crisis responders embedded in the hospital 24/7 to support patients and their family members in the immediate aftermath of violence and assist victims and co-victims during the process of physical and emotional recovery. Trauma Victim Advocates also perform a variety of functions in the hospital's emergency department, including: offering comfort to patients in the trauma bay, giving families regular updates about their loved ones' conditions, providing grief support to families of homicide victims, and linking patients and their families to crime victim services. Program activities will be performed in a hospital setting under the supervision of the Trauma Outreach Manage.
Job Responsibilities
- Trauma Victim Advocate Responsibilities − Provides direct services to victims and their families, including but not restricted to the following: crisis response, supportive counseling, needs assessment, advocacy, and crime victims' compensation assistance. − Contacts the victim-based agencies when crime victims are admitted to TUH. − Discusses with family the services that are available to the victim. − Reviews the victim agency's confidentiality policy with clients. − Identifies and refers clients for whom group and individual counseling is appropriate. − Visits clients in the setting within the hospital that is most comfortable for the victim, including but not limited to treatment areas, evaluation rooms, and recovery rooms. − Provides appropriate referrals to community resources as needed. − Enters client information into the ETO System. − Maintains professional working relationships with staff, volunteers, other agencies, and the general public.
- General Procedures - Trauma Victim Advocate − Maintains accurate and legible records. − Adheres to the policies and procedures of TUH, which support the goals and mission of the Hospital and meet funding requirements. − Assists with recordkeeping and reporting systems
- Complies with all Temple University Health System policies and procedures, and all applicable accreditation standards, laws and regulations, including those regarding patient confidentiality such as, but not limited to, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, P. L. 104-191 ('HIPAA') and the rules and regulations implemented hereunder.
- Adheres to and promotes Hospital Safety Standards and the Safety Management Plan.
- Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
- Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
- Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Bachelors Degree : in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field (Preferred)
Experience
2 Years experience working directly with victims of crime (Required) General experience assisting and providing advocacy services to victims of crime (Preferred)
2 Years experience working directly with victims of crime (Required)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.71 - $28.20 per hour
