Position Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA
We are currently recruiting for a Turnaround Manager. This position is located in Lake Charles, Louisiana and reports to Senior Manager Projects, Turnarounds & Construction.
Purpose of Job
- Leads TAR Scoping, Planning and Execution within the Americas
- Attract, lead, develop, and retain highly skilled and competent resources within planning, scheduling, and execution functions
- Provide effective management and execution of TARs to meet all SHE requirements while ensuring competitive, reliable, and efficient delivery
- Develop and maintain and improve key practices and approaches to deliver high performance
- Ensure business and operational goals and objectives met throughout life cycle of based on TA milestone delivery
- Keep management updated with timely and accurate information throughout each phase of all turnarounds
- Champion the continuous improvement process (collection of lessons learned, post-TAR critiques, process improvements)
- Maintain updated long-range plans to allow site Strategy Team to make informed decisions for timing of event execution and capital allocation
Key Accountabilities
- Turnaround Management – lead dedicated team of turnaround event managers, engineers, planners, schedulers
- Drive a One Team mindset across the organization for a stakeholders involved with turnarounds
- Develop strong culture within department of Zero Harm, Quality, and Performance (cost & schedule)
- Drive turnaround team to project milestones. Work with appropriate stakeholders to eliminate barriers for team and elevate delays or missed milestones to Steering Team for action
- Ensure transparency to Steering Team throughout all phases of TAR to eliminate surprises and allow for earlier mitigation actions to be taken when necessary
- Ensure the safe and environmentally compliant delivery of turnarounds within the Americas and be an industry leader in overall performance and management
- Accountable for compliance to capital project governance processes and the governance/compliance with engineering and construction standards, as required
- Build, maintain and improve TAR procedures
- Develops talent to serve Technical Services function as well as the talent pipeline for other functions within Sasol, where applicable
- Actively engage in readiness assessment reviews throughout all phases of turnaround to identify gaps and develop closure plans
Formal Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred or 12 years relevant field experience in lieu of a degree
Working Experience
- Minimum of 8-10 years of practical engineering and managerial experience in the refining/petrochemical industry
- Turnaround experience strongly preferred
