BASIC FUNCTIONThe New Jersey Tutoring Corps Inc. provides high-dosage tutoring for K through Grade 8 students in math and literacy to close learning gaps. The New Jersey Tutoring Corps seeks to hire tutors to work with scholars in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCA summer day camps from June to August. Tutors will work with small groups of scholars, typically in groups of 1-5, in grades K-5 in building skills in math and literacy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Engage with scholars in grades K-5 to build on existing mathematics and/or literacy skills.
- Complete daily records on scholar progress and site needs using the tools provided.
- Use diagnostic data to drive instruction.
- Communicate regularly with your site coordinator, senior BGC & YMCA staff, and on-site camp staff to provide optimum learning- experiences for scholars.
- Participate in coaching from an instructional coach.
- Use an asset-based approach in working with scholars.
- Be responsive and work collaboratively with other tutors and site staff.
- Complete all training.
QUALIFICATIONSRequired Qualifications:
- Experience working with young children, preferably in a learning and teaching capacity;
- Ability to use data to inform instruction;
- New Jersey Certification of Criminal History (fingerprint form);
- Experience with Google suite functions including Google sheets and forms;
- Professional skills include attention to detail, timely and proactive communication, and job preparedness;
- Reliable transportation to travel to sites.

- Genuine desire to work with young children in a teaching capacity, building on foundational skills and closing learning gaps using formative and summative data and strong teaching pedagogy;
