Job description
The unlicensed Activity Investigator is a critical position within the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC). The Investigator investigates cases pertaining to violations of Arizona Contracting Laws and submits findings to either the ROC Legal Division and/or appropriate prosecutors. This position will report to an Assistant Chief of Investigations and will be assigned complaints in and around Tucson, AZ. The Investigator will be supplied a vehicle, cell phone and laptop to complete assigned cases. Due to the public contact and outreach associated with this position, all Investigators are required to maintain a professional appearance.
- Investigate allegations of unlicensed contracting within the assigned region.
- Interview parties related to the allegations and gather evidence.
- Complete reports and prepare cases for prosecution.
- Increase public awareness of the Registrar of Contractors by providing general information to individuals and groups in an assigned region.
- Testify in criminal court or administrative hearings.
- Equivalent to 5 years in public safety, law enforcement, or investigations
- Equivalent to a High School Diploma

Candidates for this position will be required to submit to a criminal history investigation.
Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)
