Essential Functions

An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation. Provide basic maintenance to receiving equipment (e.g., cleaning, sweeping empty trailers, changing labels and ribbons). Maintain a safe work area through checking the integrity of trailers/pallets (e.g., leaks, pest infestation, trailer damage); organizing work area by stacking empty pallets and/or breaking down cartons; and moving empty pallets using a pallet jack or power equipment. Manage freight deliveries through processing, identifying, counting, separating and scanning freight; tracking and identifying freight manually or with computer software; unloading freight from trailer manually or with power equipment; cutting open boxes/cases using a box cutter and/or placing cases onto pallets, and maintaining records, logs and forms. Maintain quality through verifying freight labels for correct item pack and quantity; and applying labels to correct location on freights/pallets/merchandise.

Physical Activities

The following physical activities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position. Grasps, turns, and manipulates objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Reads information, often in small print. Visually locates merchandise and other objects. Visually inspects equipment. Reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Stand for extended periods of time. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, which could include, but not be limited to fall protection, eye protection, hearing protection, respiratory protection, chemical protection and electrical protection such as protective footwear. Operate motor vehicle or other large power equipment. Use approved equipment to step up and access freight and equipment in elevated areas. Walk within work area for extended periods of time. Differentiate sounds in order to inspect and maintain equipment, identify potential hazards, or recognize safety alarms. Lift, push, pull, and carry tools, objects or equipment above shoulder level without assistance. Write documents, reports, etc. using a writing instrument (e.g., pencil, pen) or computer. Moves, lifts, carries, and places merchandise and supplies weighing up to 60 pounds without assistance.
