Visiting Associate Director of Trial Advocacy

College of Law

The Kimball R. and Karen G. Anderson Center for Advocacy and Professionalism at the University of Illinois College of Law aims to provide "best in class" training to College of Law students by offering training in a wide variety of advocacy skills and with innovative classes and programs relating to the professional responsibility obligations attendant to client advocacy. The Visiting Associate Director of Trial Advocacy assists the Director of Trial Advocacy in meeting these aims and providing "best in class" training to College of Law students.


Teaching:

  • Teaching law school mock trial teams in both the fall and spring semester
  • Teaching one advocacy related course in both the fall and spring semester
  • Teaching advocacy related trainings and Continued Legal Education (CLE) programs to College of Law students and alumni
  • Collaborating with the Director of the Undergraduate Law Studies Program in mentoring and advising members of the undergraduate mock trial team
Program Management:
  • Collaborating with the Director of Trial Advocacy in the development of new and innovative courses for the Trial Advocacy Program
  • Collaborating with the Director of Trial Advocacy in development of online and live programs for the trial advocacy community
  • Collaborating with the Director of Trial Advocacy in development of trial advocacy competitions that will be hosted and sponsored by the Anderson Center and College of Law
  • Collaborating with the Director of Trial Advocacy in development of symposia, practice case files and problems, and advocacy related scholarship and publications
Administrative:
  • Assisting the Director of Trial Advocacy with the administration and development of the Mock Trial Program

Minimum Qualifications
J.D. or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school; State bar licensure

Preferred Qualifications
Two years of civil and/or criminal litigation experience, or extensive participation in law school mock trial competitions.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2023. Salary is commensurate with experience. Full benefit package.
