Job description

The Volunteer Manager is responsible for all aspects related to volunteers at the Neighborhood Center, which includes: recruitment, orientation, training, communication, scheduling, special event coordination, and volunteer appreciation events. The Volunteer Manager will develop and maintain a method to train and orient new and current volunteers which will be utilized at all CCWVa volunteer sites. The Volunteer Manager must be a highly organized individual who is willing and able to be present for volunteers through timely and appropriate communication strategies and an approachable demeanor.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Provide a consistent and welcoming presence for the volunteers at the Neighborhood Center

• Act as the primary point of contact for communications with volunteers

• Develop and maintain an organized method to volunteer schedules, including a database of backup volunteers

• Ensure volunteers are staffed to support the various areas of operations, including the kitchen, food pantry, meal route program, donation drives, presence ministry, special events, cleaning and minor maintenance, and administrative assistance

• Recommend the most appropriate volunteer supervision, duties, and ratios.

• Recruit, interview and place applicants for volunteer work

• Conduct and/or arrange for volunteer orientation and training

• Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service that can be utilized statewide by CCWVa offices

• Survey staff regularly to assess needs for volunteer assistance and work proactively with staff to provide accurate information and assistance to the volunteer

• Maintain Volunteer Service Descriptions for each volunteer assignment

• Organize and participate in volunteer recognition programs and special events
