Position Summary: The Voter Services Clerk serves as the primary customer service representative for the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Office, and is responsible for the accurate maintenance and entry of voter registration information and record maintenance.
RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
- Processes new voter registrations, registration updates/changes, vote-by-mail ballot requests and returns, returned mail, petition verification and other voter record information.
- Provides voter registration and elections information to customers in person, by mail, and over the telephone according to Florida state law, rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Researches voter records and assists in solving problems related to the progression of a voter’s registration record. May include research methods using sources outside of the voter registration database, such as other government websites, databases or general Internet searches.
- Verifies accuracy of registration records.
- Assists voters with early voting and voting by mail ballot.
- Assists in the preparation for elections, including hiring and managing communications with election workers, preparation of procedures and materials and supplies for early voting and Election Day, and post-election research, meetings and follow-up as required by the office or Florida Election Law.
- Updates street maintenance files to maintain an accurate database of residential addresses within Seminole County.
- Develops and maintains documentation for procedural steps necessary for consistency in the department’s approach to the ongoing and cyclical responsibilities and tasks associated with maintaining voter records and election readiness.
- Participates in filing and organization of files as related to all departmental duties.
- Handles special projects and other duties as may be necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- 1 - 3 years of clerical and data entry experience required (3 years preferred), to include extensive computer use in a customer service, public service or business office environment
- Ability to maintain an understanding of federal and Florida election laws, the elections office computerized voter registration system, and all relevant data entry procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as they relate to a business office setting
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
- Ability to type 35 cwpm.
- Must be a registered voter in the State of Florida prior to appointment
