The Vice President, Head of Product is a member of the Senior Management team of Berkley Management Protection and responsible for the strategic planning, development of vertical expertise, Trellis policy, training and underwriting compliance. Reporting to the CUO, s/he will work closely with Regional Vice Presidents and the cross functional team to drive underwriting execution and in providing superior agent and insured experiences. Ideally, the position will be based in Connecticut but we’re open to considering alternative locations. The person hire should expect to travel approximately 25% of the time.
Key functions will include but not be limited to:
- Managing line of business, develop vertical expertise and drive strategic initiatives
- Formulate product position, underwriting rules, guidelines and best practices
- Develop and maintain a market competitive product aligned with Operating Unit goals
- Partner with Regional Vice Presidents and underwriters on local strategies, go to market campaigns and key agency relationships
- Monitor emerging issues and trends impacting profitability and appetite
- Develop training modules on underwriting guidelines, strategies and emerging issues
- Work with marketing department to publish marketing content and white papers
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum of 10+ years of underwriting experience
- 5+ years of Product Management experience within the Management Liability suite of products (D&O, EPL, Cyber, Crime, Fiduciary)
- Must be fully vaccinated and remain fully vaccinated against COVID-19. *
