Education:

  • Safety-related certifications a plus.

Experience:

  • Experience in weaving or fiber arts preferred.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

This position requires finger and manual dexterity and arm-hand steadiness. Requires the ability to use your hands and arms to complete continuous repetitive motions. Frequent walking, sitting and occasional standing, occasional balancing, stooping, bending; frequent handling objects, and reaching with hands and arms; and constant finger movements. The position also requires ordinary talking and hearing capability; full vision capabilities; and the ability to read/comprehend, write, communicate orally, and reason and analyze on a constant basis, and to perform calculations frequently.

Position Summary

The Weaver is responsible for operating floor looms and shuttles to produce rugs, and bolts of fabric ranging in length to 50 yards of woven material. The Weaver will be trained in multiple patterns using two to eight treadles and multiple shuttles.

  • Creating straight edges
  • Consistent beating
  • Recognizing and fixing errors
  • Measuring own work
  • Starting a weft
  • Moving projects forward on looms
  • Threading looms and preparing warps
  • Cutting finished fabric
  • Washing raw materials and finished items
  • Serves as a role model to persons receiving services by:
  • Modeling appropriate workplace attire and hygiene
  • Demonstrating professional workplace relationship interactions and appropriate boundaries with coworkers and community members
  • Displaying appropriate conflict management, stress management and interpersonal interactions with community members and colleagues


Other Required Duties

Standards of Behavior/Conduct

  • Respond to all requests for information or communication in a timely manner.
  • Follow all policies within the MVDS Employee Handbook.
  • Report all on-the-job inquiries to immediate supervisor and Director of Human Resources within 24 hours of the occurrence and provide a detailed account of the events leading to the injury

Attendance and Scheduling

  • Report for work on-time and as scheduled.
  • Enter daily, accurate timekeeping records in timekeeping database.
  • Attend all regular staff meetings and other meetings as requested by supervisory or administrative staff members.
  • Work schedule as assigned.
  • Have all over-time requests pre-approved or demonstrate they were due to an emergency.
  • Work at any MVDS facility and be responsible for own transportation to work.

Competencies

  • Complete all mandatory new hire requirements and training as identified by the State of Colorado and Mountain Valleys training requirements within 90 days of hire and maintain courses and certifications as required.
  • Maintain skills with computers, take advantage of new technology, learn new tools quickly, use technology to enhance job performance and increase productivity. Maintain current understanding of technical processes/equipment.

Adherence to policies and procedures

  • Adhere to MVDS policies and procedures outlined in the policy manual, Employee Handbook, and other employee policies.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned to ensure effective functioning of Mountain Valleys programming.
