The NDSU Spring Wheat Breeding & Genetics Program has full-time openings ideal for applicants with strong attention to detail and organization. This position will expose you to the basics of plant breeding and provide a varied and active work environment with a team that includes research specialists, graduate students, and other undergraduate assistants.

Our primary need is assistance with field work (e.g. Prosper, Casselton), and the secondary needs are assistance in the seed lab and greenhouse on the NDSU main campus in Fargo. Field work will consist of assistance with spring planting, weeding, field staking, mowing between rows, disease rating, note-taking, and harvest. Seed lab work may include some assistance with seed processing using threshers and cleaners, seed organization, preparation for spring planting, inventory management, cleaning harvest bags, and discarding seed.

Typical hours will be 7:30 am-4 pm, Monday through Friday, from May 15th to August 18th 2023, with overtime as job duties provide. Starting pay is $15 per hour for someone who meets the minimum qualifications, but a higher pay rate is available to someone with experience. Preferred applicants will have a valid driver’s license, competency with mowers, tractors and other machinery, and proven organizational skills.
