Essential Functions*:

  • Provide Product Process Engineering support for the manufacture of energetic materials.
  • Supervise Explosives Testing Lab and Primer Development Lab.
  • Manage changes, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Distributed Control System used for the manufacture of explosives. Requires an understanding of automated process controls and instrumentation.
  • Define and document the manufacturing processes and procedures. Including Piping and instrumentation diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures, Block Flow Diagrams, and Mass Balances
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, Maintenance, and other Engineering disciplines to identify product process challenges and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Plan and execute engineering projects related to safety, process improvements, optimization, and cost reduction.
  • Support Continuous Improvement Initiatives, Quality Objectives, and Safety Initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements preferred.
  • Establish and maintain departmental procedures for testing explosives and training technicians.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated.
  • Monitor chemical inventory needs for testing.
  • Review data required for contracts for accuracy.
  • Generate and certify Certificate of Compliance and Analysis for Mil Spec Explosives.
  • Direct activities related to DOT testing of products for transport and safety testing of new equipment for energetic material.
  • Perform Research and Development activities in support of non-toxic, heavy metal free priming mix formulations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and marketing in the development of new formulations and improvements of energetic materials and components.
  • Perform scale-up operations from lab scale to production scale in support of new or improved products.
  • Review, recommend, and advise in the analysis and testing of potential contamination in final products and customer complaints.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams for safety, process, and product improvements.
  • Perform Statistical Analysis on data.
  • Assist in investigation and Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop, manage, and support Capital Projects.

Position Requirements*:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree** in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum five years of recent related experience required; batch processes in explosives, energetics, or pharmaceuticals preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously preferred.
  • Ammunition and firearm experience along with knowledge of the shooting sports industry preferred.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, organizational, teamwork, and time management skills
  • Must possess excellent leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, presentation, and report writing/structuring skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in AutoCAD Inventor, Solid Works, Infinity, MiniTab, and SAP preferred.
  • Experience with Siemens PCS7 preferred.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $77,000.00 - $121,024.71 per year
