The Wound Care Nurse will also assist with modifying the treatment regimen to meet the physical and psycho-social needs of the resident in accordance with established medical practices and the requirements of the state and policies and goals of the facility.

Responsibilities:

• Perform skin assessments and maintain wound care log
• Perform weekly evaluations
• Treat wounds and incorporate preventative measures for skin breakdown
• Educate staff on wound care
• Develop a plan of care based on assessment when implementing wound care.
• Follows the policies and procedures of the facility.
• Performs other duties or functions as directed by the Administrator or Director of Nursing.

• Must have a current state license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Current CPR certification
• Wound care certification preferred
• Must possess administrative skill set
• Demonstrates knowledge of basic nursing practice with an interest in gerontological nursing
• One (1) year experience in a long-term care setting preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
