JOB LOCATION: Walnut Creek Family YMCA
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Various Weekday and Weekend Shifts Available
HOURLY PAY RATE: $10.25-$11.75/hour
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: December 23, 2022 - Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.


POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Youth Program Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching/training program participants.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrate and teach activities.
  • Conduct program in a fun, positive atmosphere.
  • Know emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them.
  • Report specific problems or needs to supervisor or designated staff person.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.
  • Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions
  • Must be at least 16 years of age (If under age 18, must be working with an adult age 18+)
  • Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications or equivalent - prior to starting
  • Intro to Y’s Cause & Culture Online Course - prior to starting
  • Additional trainings to be assigned and completed within 30 days after hired, as well as maintained afterwards

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively with people and monitor property and activity
  • Ability to perform light to moderate physical activity
  • Ability to adapt to variety of working conditions

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work with diverse group of people (mostly children between 3-5 years old)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Good communication skills and good organizational skills
  • Ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to teach/train program activities
  • Attend trainings and/or courses as required by the YMCA
