Microassist is seeking candidates for an entry-level accessibility auditor. The ideal candidate enjoys performing detailed technical analyses and has an aptitude for learning. Once onboard, you will undergo a training program and mentorship to help guide your journey to becoming an Accessibility Auditor. Application development experience is not required, but an interest in learning some HTML and associated languages is essential.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Work independently or with other accessibility testers/ Analysts to assess websites for conformance with established WCAG 2.0 / 2.1 standards and ADA 508 Compliance

· Develop and maintain an expert understanding of the accessibility guidelines, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Section 508.

· Develop and maintain an expert understanding of standards such as HTML, WAI-ARIA, and technologies as required.

· Develop detailed reports explaining accessibility defects identified through analysis. Wherever possible, suggest remediation methods/techniques.

· Review results of the assessment with customers with varying degrees of technical knowledge through teleconferences answering questions regarding testing methods and interpretation of the results.

· Complete a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) / Accessibility Conformance Report in accordance with the guidelines provided both in the template instructions and Microassist standards.

· Must be willing to continually increase knowledge of accessibility extending from technical subjects to policy.

Qualifications and Skills
· Willingness to learn accessibility standards and guidelines such as WCAG 2.0/2.1 and Section 508.

· Willingness to learn assistive technologies, such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Talkback, etc…

· Willingness to learn web development languages, such as HTML5, CSS, and Javascript.

· Experience as a front-end developer, QA tester, or some other relevant experience is a plus, but not required.

· Excellent writing and communication skills.

· Be comfortable leading calls with clients to explain issues and accessibility concepts, to parties of varying degrees of technical knowledge (designers, developers, managers, etc…)

· Ability to learn new tools and web technologies.

· Ability to work independently on substantial projects with little supervision.

· Ability to work well with others and confidence to reach out for help when needed.

· Is willing to learn new techniques such as testing to ensure work products are perceivable by those who have vision, hearing, mobility and / or cognitive challenges.

· Identify, analyze, and report product defects with full evidence, such as functionality errors, inconsistencies in software program functions, file outputs, user interface forms, content, and system usability issues.

· Understand higher-level concepts such as exception processes, equivalent facilitation, and alternate forms of accommodations-based business rules, user interface standards, and technical specifications.

· Assist in the continued development of quality control procedures.

· Industry experience in accessibility testing is preferred.

· Other duties may be assigned.
