Responsibilities:
The Admitting Supervisor works closely with the Admitting Director or Manager overseeing department operations and function. Works to ensure patient, family, and Physician satisfaction on a daily basis. Is responsible for all areas within the Admitting department.
Understands the functions of the Admitting registration/pre registration process and chart breakdown- Evaluates and counsels departmental personnel, in accordance with Administrative regulations, and in conjunction with the Director/Manager of Admitting
- Assists with the planning and delivery of monthly staff meetings
- Assists in Departmental hiring and training practices in accordance with personnel regulations
- Assists staff to organize and prioritize work as needed.
- Follows up to ensure that the staff is meeting assigned objectives and deadlines and to assist them if necessary.
- Assists the Director/Manager of Admitting in the process of reviews and appraises the performance of staff.
- Facilitates the resolution for problems and conflicts.
- Assists the Admitting Director/Manager with the new hire process of new employees within the Admitting Department
- Assists with the training of new personnel and provides a written orientation outline to each new employee and documents completion.
- Keeps Admitting Director/Manager informed about issues.
- Utilizes problem solving approach in department needs following the appropriate chain of command.
- Submits complete, accurate payroll via hospital timekeeping application at designated times.
- Maintains monthly staffing schedules and works with Admitting Director/Manager as needed to control Department staffing to ensure appropriate coverage on a daily basis.
- Authorizes all overtime and regulates monthly Department staffing in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Monitors the daily DNFB to ensure that all accounts are secure for reimbursement.
- Ensures that personnel adhere to hospital and department policies.
- Ensures that department supplies are ordered and supplies are inventoried, and managed efficiently.
- Performs all other duties as assigned or required.
Education and Work Experience
1. High school diploma or equivalent required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)
2. One to two years experience as a supervisor in the Admitting areas of an acute care facility preferred
3. Preferred Skills and Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate understanding of and ability to interpret third party payer principles and terms and COBRA laws.
Strong organizational skills required for effective communication with patients, physicians, public, staff and administrations. Must be able to work in fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
4. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
5. Effective written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
7. Analytical and problem-solving skills
8. Customer Services experience required
