KeyLogic is currently searching for a Junior Application Engineer to support one of our Department of Energy contracts in the Albuquerque, NM area.

Currently, this position is onsite in Albuquerque. The selected candidate must be able to reliably commute or be open to relocating to the Albuquerque area. If offered the position, a government background investigation would be required for a security clearance. Since this position falls under the Department of Energy, the clearance does require exclusive US Citizenship (i.e., no dual citizenship).

The position can be telework but must be within driving distance of Albuquerque.

Application Engineer I Overview

Mission Computing Services (MCS) provides tailored IT services and support to Sandia mission organizations and customers. MCS also delivers system administration and IT support for classified desktop systems and all Linux/UNIX operation systems. MCS partners with other corporate IT providers in the delivery of its services and is engaged in technology development efforts for the Sandia Classified Network (SCN), UNIX/LINUX, and thin/virtual computing.

Responsibilities

• As an Application Engineer you will work with a team developing and/or maintaining web-based applications using tools such as Ruby on Rails or Java.
• You will analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities; translate detailed design into application systems; test, debug, and refine applications to produce the required product; prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation; enhance applications to improve performance and add functionality; and provide technical direction to engineers to ensure program deadlines are met.
• To accomplish this, you will need one years’ experience in Linux environments, relational database, experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Data Structures, and Algorithms.
• And finally, knowledge of, and desire to follow IT Operations best practices and procedures such as issue management and incident response.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience working in full stack application development
• 2 years experience developing web-based applications using Ruby on Rails
• Experience using Agile development methodologies
• Effective oral and written communications skills along with a strong customer service commitment
• Familiar with information security best practices
• High School Diploma
• Experience integrating front end and back-end APIs to allow agnostic use of other front-end frameworks
• Experience with Rails testing frameworks such as Rspec and Git

Pay: $60,000.00 - $67,000.00 per year
