DEPUTY TREASURER I

The successful candidate is responsible for clerical and technical work involving preparation and collection tax and other records of monies collected by the City of Staunton. Provide addition support services for the department as needed.

Typical tasks include the following:

• 
  Answers phone and in person taxpayer customer service;
• Processes mail;
• Reconciles monies collected and prepares deposits;
• Adds remove DMV stops;
• Maintains custody of various parking tags and stickers
• Continuing education to obtain Master Deputy Treasurer
• Collection and deposit of:

Real Estate

Business Personal Property

Machinery and tools

Personal Property

Local taxes

State Income and Estimated taxes

Bank Franchise

Public Service Corporations

Communication Tax

Park and Rec monies

Planning and inspection

Utilities

Dog Licenses

Parking passes and tickets

Various other departments

Qualifications:

Associates degree in accounting, business administration or related field or equivalent amount of training and experience.

This Positon is subject to a criminal background check. Position may work overtime during times of peak workload.

This full-time, non-exempt position which comes with excellent city benefits.

Salary : $38,000
