Position Summary

Ensure compliance with the Air Carrier Part 135 requirements. Maintain aircraft and equipment to ensure continuous safety, airworthiness, and compliance status within the approved maintenance programs, FAR’s and ExcelAire policies. Ensure that all maintenance performed on aircraft, power plants, appliances, and components is performed in accordance with the approved maintenance and inspection program, all applicable manufacturer’s maintenance manuals and the Federal Aviation Regulations. Develop, implement, and monitor the inspection program for both the Part 135 Air Carrier and the Part 145 Repair Station Certificates to ensure that the maintenance of aircraft and associated equipment conforms to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and manufacturers’ specifications.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain procedures for purchasing, repair, borrowing, and lending of parts, materials and products
  • Improve efficiency of all maintenance organizations and reliability of aircraft
  • Review aircraft inspection requirements prior to scheduled maintenance events and monitor aircraft schedules; coordination of maintenance planning to ensure adequate aircraft down time is available; ensure adequate information is available to coordinate parts in time to meet lead time requirements for spare parts
  • Ensure a continual review of maintenance logs and other data to enable the formulating of recommended improvement of safety and reliability
  • Ensure the development and provisions for accomplishing required and necessary training of personnel in the maintenance department; warrant training is continual and contains integrity; identify training shortfalls in maintenance and administration
  • Develop programs and setup, training and record keeping of maintenance personnel
  • Ensure technical publication status and tracking programs are kept current at all times
  • Maintain close liaison with flight operations to assure the maximum benefits of operating experience are incorporated into all phases of maintenance
  • Manage and update the General Maintenance Manual as well as the development of MEL’s and Approved Maintenance Inspection Programs
  • Manage the administration of the MEL deferment and tracking program
  • Complete the MRR and MIS reports as required by FAR 135.415 and 135.417 in accordance with Company procedures; submit any other report of defects or un-airworthiness conditions to the FAA when requested
  • Keep General Manager informed on all issues when aircraft is in Maintenance
  • Work with vendors on quotes for outside maintenance
  • May receive calls from crew members when problems arise away from base; must act accordingly to assist flight crew as required.

Qualifications

  • Proficient reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
  • High school diploma, college education preferred
  • Must have A&P-FAA certification
  • Must be knowledgeable of the applicable manufacturers maintenance manual, company operations specifications, FAR’s and applicable portions of the company operations and maintenance manuals
  • Proficient in MS Office, with the ability to learn new software
  • Professional verbal/written communication skills
  • Must pass all conducted drug/alcohol screens, background and security checks and prove eligibility for employment in the United States.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to act under pressure and be adaptable to change on a constant basis
