JOB DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION
JOB TITLE: Dispatch Support Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Basin Transit Association – Fixed Route
POSITION LEVEL: 3E
SALARY SCALE: Level 1 to 6, depending on qualifications.
+1 Computer skills (40+ WPM) (Excel) & Office experience
+2 Current CDL License (Learners Permit not acceptable)
+2 Current CDL Passenger Endorsement (Permit acceptable pending license)
GENERAL PURPOSE:
To fill in for any drivers and their associated routes whenever a fixed route driver is unable to drive. This is a 40.0 hours per week position, leading to hours being fulfilled by performing various tasks as they are assigned. This is a coordinated position within the BTA, primarily focused under the sub-division of Fixed Route transit.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Works under the direction of the Transit Operations Manager (Duchesne County staff).
2. Ensure that you bring an outward mindset with a positive attitude to work. We all spend more time at work than we do with our own families, so please help us to enjoy our daily lives.
3. Learn office procedures for invoicing, time sheets, and record keeping. Records make include but not be limited to maintenance reports, passenger reports, and driver trip sheets.
a. This also includes the punctuality regarding paperwork submission. If you are covering a bus route one day, ensure paperwork is submitted at the end of the shift.
4. Ensure office / workstation / vehicle assigned for day of work is presentable for potential clients, be that vehicle cleanliness or office organized and clean.
5. Ensures the Bus/Van is maintained with oil changes, tune-ups, and tires are in good condition when needed. Details to be assigned by your supervisor.
a. Ensure a “Work Request Form” is filled out for vehicle PM’s and repairs.
b. Upon picking up a vehicle from a shop, make sure you get the form back from the shop and all repairs on the list have been performed, OR an explanation why not.
6. Perform basic vehicle maintenance (vehicle TLC).
a. If you feel uncomfortable performing repairs yourself or knowledge to do so, seek assistance from your supervisor.
b. Help supervisor with minor vehicle repairs as needed.
7. Provides a safe means of transportation for those on the Bus/Van.
8. Polite and courteous to passengers on the Bus/Van.
9. Performs other related duties as required for the betterment of the BTA.
10. Walk yard (BTA parking area in Vernal) and clean up trash; once per week each person.
11. Clean up garage bay (Roosevelt).
a. Dump garage bay trash can weekly (or sooner if needed).
b. Sweep / spray garage bay weekly.
c. Clean up & organize shelving daily. (Make inventory easier)
d. Pick up extension cords, hoses, or any other potential trip hazards
12. Tool usage
a. Make sure to return tools to their proper storage container and location
MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience and Qualifications:
a. High School diploma
b. 1+ years related full-time driving experience (required)
i. 3+ years related full-time driving experience (preferred)
c. First Aid Training and / or CPR Training
d. Desired Driving Experience: Have a current Utah CDL with passenger endorsement in good standing; OR be able to obtain one in an agreed upon timeframe.
e. Desired Office Experience: Experience working in an office navigating different daily needs. Government office experience a plus.
f. Desired Computer Skills: Experience with Excel, typing skills (40+ WPM), and formal writing skills including but not limited to: experience writing reports or official letters.
2. Knowledge and Skills:
a. Some knowledge of public and government organizational structure is a plus.
b. Scheduling and routing skills
c. Some vehicle maintenance skills
d. Compassion and willingness to serve
e. Clean driving record
f. Ability / experience assisting disabled individuals on and off the bus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.73 - $18.69 per hour
