Summary/Objective
The primary purpose of the position is to perform HR and Office-related duties on a professional level and work closely with the HR director. This position carries out responsibilities recruitment, onboarding new staff, benefits administration, payroll, employee relations, training, performance management, maintenance of HR documents as well as administers and ensures human resources policies and procedures are followed for all hospital staff.
Essential Job Functions
  • Preform administrative duties as assigned for the facility
  • Maintain payroll, HR and medical files on each active/terminated employee.
  • Assist administrator/department heads with hiring needs.
  • Coordinate with department supervisors and initiates contact with applicants regarding interviews and assists in determining new hire orientation start dates.
  • Conducts personal and professional reference checks, income verifications where required, and initiates criminal background checks.
  • Setup and process new hire paperwork and perform new hire orientation training for incoming employees.
  • Assists in revision and development of policies and employee handbook.
  • Performs initial staff customer service and refers problems to HR director as appropriate.
  • Maintain Nursing/CNA/STNA licenses & certifications.
  • Tracks performance appraisals and provides reminders to supervisory staff
  • Coordinate Worker’s Comp claims reporting/procedures.
  • Professionally handles employee relations, counseling, disciplinary proceedings, terminations, and exit interviews.
  • Participates in daily flash meetings.
  • Participates and report quality information during monthly.
  • Be a liaison for the facility at unemployment hearings.
  • Maintain all state/federal postings.
  • Stays current and compliant with HIPAA, ADA, FML, EEO, and Title VII rules, regulations.
  • Maintain the HR orientation and training calendar.
  • Attend job fairs as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to use personal computer for word processing, data entry, and automated time systems.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy regarding time and organizational management.
  • Requires multi-tasking and extensive customer service skills, and the ability to handle stress in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with staff and other County personnel.
  • Ability to apply basic skills relative to office administration.
  • Must possess personal qualities related to respect for the rights and confidentiality of others.
  • Complies with hospital expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct.
  • Complies with federal and hospital requirements in the areas of protected health information and patient privacy.
  • Some duties may be reassigned, and other duties may be assigned as required in the hospital’s sole discretion.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree and Three (3) to Five (5) years of HR experience.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the principles of best HR practices.
  • Relevant experience can substitute for education. Requires knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Requires the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Requires knowledge of professional speaking as well as spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence/paragraph structure, and formatting.
