Part time, 10 months

Position Summary:

The Music Teacher plays an important role by providing a lively, meaningful, and joyful music learning experience to the toddler and primary children at Gladwyne Montessori through joyfully sharing songs, rhythms, dance, and instrument play.

Responsibilities:

• Plans joyful, developmentally appropriate, and culturally relevant music and movement instruction;

• Sets the tone for the peaceful, joyful environment that promotes a love of music and movement;

• Writes meaningful conference reports and report cards as determined by the schedule set by the Assistant Head of School;

• Works with other members of the faculty and Senior Leadership to ensure continuity of curriculum and communication;

• Guides children through peaceful, effective classroom management;

• Assists in duties beyond the classroom as requested by the Head of School.

• An eagerness and ability to interact with parents, students, faculty and staff, administrators, trustees, alumni, and other friends of the school;

• Ability to take initiative and problem solve independently when needed;

• Excellent written and oral communication skills;

• A willingness to work outside of “normal” business hours is essential, as peak periods and special events necessitate some evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Music Education preferred but not required;

• Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience teaching music to children;

• Must be able to play at least one instrument proficiently, preferably guitar, keyboard, and/or ukulele;

• Must have knowledge of minimum standards, health and safety practices, social and emotional development, and classroom management;

• Must pass all required clearances (PA Child Abuse, Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History, Federal Criminal History Background Check);

• Must be able to sit comfortably on the floor with children and bend, squat, and kneel with ease;

• Ability to navigate stairs;

• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.

Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour

Experience:
