Job Summary: The Nursing Excellence Coordinator is proficient in nursing and functions as a clinical leader, expeditor, educator, and consultant, utilizing management theory, change management and negotiations to expand evidence base practices and successfully implement the ANCC Pathway to Excellence standards/ elements of performance.

Education / Experience:

  • Graduated from an accredited college of nursing;
  • BSN required, MSN preferred;
  • Database management
  • Continuing education of 30 hours or more annually
  • Professional certification as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) desired or within 1 year of hire

Licensure, Certification and / or Registration:

  • Current RN licensure in good standing in the State of North Carolina

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates with clinical and administrative leadership, assumes facility wide responsibility for coordination of the ANCC Pathways to Excellence application, designation, and re-designation process
  • Provides administrative consultation and serves as a subject matter expert for all teammates in pursuit of ANCC Pathway to Excellence
  • Demonstrate excellent role modeling behaviors, have experience in project management, strategic planning, marketing, knowledge of accreditation standards and ANCC recognition program (Pathway to Excellence and Magnet)
  • Serves as the Pathways advisor to leadership teams and the liaison to the ANCC Pathway/Magnet office, advisors and or consultants
  • Develops written reports related to assessments and recommends changes in the nursing professional practice environment
  • Supports Nursing Administration in assuming the organizational milieu reflects the internalization of the elements of performance for Pathway to Excellence
  • Provides administrative direction for the Shared Governance, Evidence Based Practice, Clinical Practice, Quality Improvement, and Pathway to Excellence processes
  • Serves as professional practice advisor as warranted to all nursing councils
  • Coordinates supports, and collaborates routinely with nursing leaders, managers, directors and Chief Nurses regarding advancement of the creation of a positive practice environment
  • Develops and implements successful strategic and tactical plans for obtaining and retaining Nursing Pathway to Excellence and/or Magnet designation
  • Contributes to preparation and creation of biannual Nursing Report to include the annual goals and achievements impacting teammates, the community, organizations the enterprise and/or the nursing profession
  • Prepares, analyzes, and interprets data and prepares progress reports
  • Collaborates with nursing quality professionals develops, and maintains a comprehensive data management system for achieving, maintaining continued readiness (e.g. NDNQI).
  • Promotes an environment of interdisciplinary patient centric excellence
  • Promotes, supports, facilitates nursing excellence through the process of Shared Governance both locally at a facility level as well as regionally and at an enterprise level

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High level of proficiency using computer hardware/software, proficiency in Excel, MS Office, and data management platforms required
  • Demonstrates proficiency in use computerized database systems
  • Develop appropriate technical specifications and project management plans to satisfy these requirements
  • Maintains strong attention to detail, and accuracy while prioritizing workload and meeting deliverables and expectations
  • Knowledge of clinical practice guidelines and best practices
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of nursing practice standards and evidence-based practice standards
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, providing routine updates, strategies and suggestions to promote and support continual process and performance improvement in nursing care
  • Proficiency in preparing and delivering professional presentations to interprofessional stakeholders
  • Strong analytic skills and the ability to develop and use metrics for program evaluation
  • An energetic, organized leader with the ability to stay on task managing multiple priorities
  • Possesses an understanding of performance improvement methodologies
