JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Post Bar Intern

Office: Law Firm

Reports to: Law Firm Director

Classification: Regular Full Time Non-Exempt

PURPOSE

Assist attorneys with day-to-day case preparation and management. If certified by the State Bar of California, will make daily court appearances under the direct supervision of a licensed attorney

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Knowledge of and ability to use word processing software such as MS Word; must have sufficient typing ability to produce memos, orders, etc.
• Ability to reason logically and analytically.
• Ability to grasp, comprehend, and analyze complex legal issues and complicated factual details. Ability to communicate ideas and concepts effectively and succinctly, both orally and in writing. Ability to work effectively with others and/or to work independently.
• Ability to interview clients and witness.
• Will be responsible for conducting research and providing written summaries of findings for use in dependency case proceedings.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and accomplish several long-term deadlines with minimum supervision.
• Excellent organizational and writing skills a must
• Completion of court mandated forms such as restraining orders, 388’s etc., with little to no supervision
• Assist the attorney in arranging appearances of witnesses at trial and hearings. Preparing presentation of evidence
• Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited law school with pending membership in the California State Bar.
