About the Position: Under general supervision, the individual will work with the initiatives that impact the Business, Family and Faith-Based Sectors, including state and local partners for Mental Health First Aid and Responsible Beverage Sales & Service Training. This position works with providers to plan and develop needed prevention services, provides and/or links with technical assistance and training, and monitors existing programs. Ensures compliance with ODMHSAS standards, evidence-based strategy requirements and other applicable governing/codified standards in managing and delivering prevention services.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Master’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Human Relations, Psychology, Public Health, Public Administration, Education or related degree and four years professional experience in behavioral health field, of which two years must be in substance abuse prevention or other related prevention or public health experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

NOTE: No substitution for bachelor’s degree.

Preference may be given to applicants who are Certified Prevention Specialist.

About us: The role of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) Prevention Division is to create healthy communities, in which people have a high quality of life, including healthy environments at work and in school; supportive communities, and neighborhood connections with families and friends; and communities free of substance abuse and mental health problems. ODMHSAS uses the Strategic Prevention Framework to plan and implement effective prevention services. The framework is built on a community-based risk and protective factors approach to prevention - to reduce risk and increase protection. Prevention programs include, but are not limited to, Mental Health First Aid; the Oklahoma Prevention Needs Assessment; PACT 360; Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT); underage drinking prevention initiatives; and youth suicide prevention and early intervention initiatives.
