POSITION PURPOSE: Manage all aspects of the working relationship with our production facilities, to include long range planning of inventory and production levels, daily scheduling of production and shipping requirements, and expediting activities as necessary to ensure customer satisfaction. Coordinates activities with OWI customer service and location personnel to satisfy all customer requirements.

DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *

Using advanced MRP tools (SAP, AS400), develops and maintains a monthly production and inventory forecast for assigned production facilities.

  • Manages the day-to-day production and distribution schedule, making decisions to adjust as necessary to ensure customer satisfaction by shipping at 95% on time, in full.
  • Regularly monitors inventory levels of all components and coordinates activities with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure product is available in time for finished goods production needs.
  • Recognizes raw material constraints and other bottlenecks in advance and makes adjustments to production schedules or routings to deliver on time to the customer.
  • Owns MRP system integrity for the assigned locations. Regularly monitors exception reports for negative balances, un-booked orders, and past due production order dates and takes corrective action.
  • Minimizes system costs by planning production efficiently and within the scope of our contracts.
  • Collaborate with OWI transportation department regarding un-booked orders.
  • Ensures all master data (BOMs, routings, etc) is accurate for new and existing items, either by maintaining the data or collaborating with department resources.
  • Prepare measurement and status reports as required.
  • Processes invoice exceptions
  • Establish annual production capacities for locations by executing analytic reviews during the year.
  • Maintain technical skills by attending classes, seminars, exhibits and trade shows as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: *

Bachelors Degree in Business, a related field or equivalent experience in planning

  • 1-3 years production planning and inventory control experience
  • Strong PC and intermediate Excel skills
  • APICS certification a plus
  • Experience within a planning environment preferred
  • SAP experience is required
  • Able to communicate effectively with 3rd party locations
  • Good proactive interpersonal, written, verbal communication and team skills
  • Must be detail oriented and exhibit proactive problem-solving skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills are a must
